South Milwaukee Holds Off Tech in Playoffs

The South Milwaukee Rockets went to the locker room at the half with a 21-0 lead over number 1 seeded Bradley Tech. That lead quickly evaporated as the Bradley Tech Trojans marched up the field on the opening drive to score a touchdown.

The Trojans immediately took advantage of a South Milwaukee personal foul for a late hit on the scoring play, recovering an on-side kick and scoring again to narrow the Rockets' lead to 21 - 13.

A Sam Oliden pass to Luke Maldonado gave the Rockets a 15 point lead at the start of the fourth quarter, but Tech quarterback Marquan Ellison answered with a touchdown pass to Michael Pirtle and a two point conversion to bring the Trojans within seven.

With the score 28-21, defense took over. The Trojans forced a punt, but the Rockets' defense kept the Trojans out of the end zone to hold on to the team's first playoff victory in more than a decade.

The Rockets will host Lake Geneva Badger on Saturday, October 31. Badger defeated Whitnall 47-35.

South Milwaukee Football Makes Playoffs

The South Milwaukee Rockets football team has made the playoffs for the first time a at least a decade. The Rockets (4-4 Woodland, 5-4 overall) will play Milwaukee Bradley Tech in the first round of the WIAA division 2 playoffs.

The game is at Milwaukee South Stadium on October 27 at 7pm. South Stadium is located at 971 W Windlake Ave.

Rockets fall to Bay in Sectionals

The Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes ended the South Milwaukee Rockets' season on Thursday, October 22 in the WIAA sectional semi-final game. The #3 seeded Rockets lost 3-2 in rainy, windy conditions to the #2 seeded Blue Dukes.

Rockets Head to Sectionals, TM Falls in OT

The South Milwaukee Rockets soccer team advanced to the Sectionals with a 2-1 victory over Greenfield on Oct. 15. The Rockets will face the #2 seeded Whitefish Bay Blue Dukes at Whitefish Bay on Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7pm.

St. Thomas More lost to Kettle Moraine Lutheran 3-2 in overtime during the second round of the Division 3 soccer playoffs.

Soccer Playoffs - SM, TM Advance

South Milwaukee defeated Milwaukee Pulaski/Arts 8-1 to advance to the second round of the WIAA Division 1 soccer playoff. The victory sets up a match with Greenfield on Thursday, Oct. 15 at 6:30pm at the South Milwaukee Soccer Complex. South Milwaukee won their last meeting in overtime, 4-3.

St. Thomas More defeated Whitefish Bay Dominican 1-0 in division 3 play and will play Kettle Moraine Lutheran at Kettle Moraine on Thursday at 4pm.

Cudahy/St. Francis played Franklin and lost by a score of 4-1.
